One thing- i was thinking how does wind come about- i mean the scientific way-where does it start- its like asking where is the internet- crazy huh- it sends me wild- i'm up all night debating with myself the answer to that- but the wind thing- how? ? Thanks

its to do with temperature differences (both land and water), pressure differences, convection, solar radiation etc. loads and loads of things all inter-related!!

Main reason for wind - pressure. The air currents flow from High pressure areas to low pressure areas. These pressure areas move about the hemispheres due to temperatures, rotation of the earth etc. I assume you did mean the met term for wind. If not then the other reason for wind and possibly why you are kept up all night - methane. Created by the intestinal tract after too much curry and other things.

this will sound pedantic but how do the currents move from high p's to low p's? So wind is a mixture of high and low pressure? thanks, Adam

All gud convo material

Hi all, just a few things that i thought i'd post- i thought i'd do it on one post rather than clogging up all of the other parts to the message board. I was just noticing that there was a long uneventful period on the message board- its a shame- loads of people have got things to say, speak up!!! Another thing, what date is the air day, sounds like the boss is doing loads to get us noticed it sounds good. Another thing, Swifty where's my flying suit so i can pick it up when I come in on saturday? One last thing, I went flying yesterday and I thought I knew all the checks that have to be done i was told that all the checks we do whilst in the air should be from memory- well i got to 1000ft and we were leaving the circuit- i turned the transponder on and switched the fuel pump off- i'm sure theres more and was what I did right?? Thanks again, Adam

Hey- thanks m8- i checked itout- i was right then!!! Just one thing tho- i noticed that i can't post on the staff section- is it just an administrators thing then?? Just wondered if you'd go over going into coarse pitch- 2400 rpm 65 knts- then pull the lever then full throttle? thanks again m8. Adam

Going from Climb to cruise pitch is as follows...
Throttle ... ... 2300 RPM speed 65 knots
Pitch Control ... ... Pull out until RPM decreases to about 1800 and then return it.
However...
If you select the RPM then do the speed you may get an increase in RPM again. so its an idea to select speed then RPM then pull the pitch control. Also if it doesnt go after a couple of attepmts, decreasing the RPM slowly while holding the control out sometimes does the trick. Better check that one though.
