nick! (lauren here) was wondering, i said i wanted to come back to do gold this year. firstly, do i have to organise it through my CCF or can i just get you lot to send me a form? second, do i actually have to be a staff cdt or can i come down for a block and do it then? i havent got time to be a staffy at linton.

Hiya lauren. You ok? Strictly speaking AGT is for staff cadets only, the one last year was a one off. Best thing to do is to apply via your CCF CO and then wait and see what happens. Chances are a school somewhere will have you on a residential course. I can ask tomorrow for you though and see what the boss and CFI say.
Hope your ok n say ello to your dad from me.

'do i actually have to be a staff cdt or can i come down for a block and do it then? i havent got time to be a staffy at linton' Seeing as how part of the AGT is about knowledge and commitment to the flying side - I would say this statement goes someway to answering the question. Ho hum.

what i actually meant by the previous comment is that i also have a lot of A level work to study for, which is very important - RAF pilot requirements are 2 Alevels. it would be nice to get my gold wings, but id rather walk before i run and get what i need first. therefore, i cant be a staff cadet right now or i would fall behind - the AGT course last year was in the summer when time is not such an issue.
cheers Nick, i shall ask my CO and see what he says. im ok, starting a new job today. (the boss is turkish... should be REAL fun.) and my dad says hi back. and a load of psychobabble about his uni assignments. strange, strange man.

Lauren- its as Duncan Braid said to me when i said I couldn't make the course cause of my exams- he said that they understand these things, they were A-level students once (very long ago) so they know where you're coming from so they are going to be fair - they're not going to cut you off and say no 1 or the other they're gonna hear you out- chances are you're C.O. will get in touch with the VGS near you and you'll do it there if not at cosford. But i'm sure Nick will try his best to arrange for you to do it here- and believ it or not exams are more important but you have to find the right balance. Hope you find somewhere to do your AGT, Adam And i wish who i new that guest was aswell!!!!

Right lets end this one before it gets any further...
Lauren, unfortunatley you won't be able to apply to do your course at Cosford. What you will have to do is get your CO to write on your form "due to work(they wont know if you mean school or 'work' work) commitments would like to attend a residentail course if possible in August" You will then get allocated to a school that is looking for AGT students on courses. Whether we do or not is up to execs.
Hope this sorts it out for you ok and good luck if you do get onto an AGT course. Any questions just ask!

OK then. Theory by Bowlby - If I remeber my 'A' Level psychology 'babble' subject matter was all about - nope it's gone DOH. Next answer 42 - my new waist measurement post christmas festivities. And a question from me - whats one of these pilots that the posts talk about. I've heard of pilot lights, pilot projects and of course pilot episodes. ;D Oh - just remebered about Bowlby - wasn't it computational theory - oh no that was navon or it may have been marr.

Back to the questions.
Old persons question here, so sandbags out! I flew first in a chipmonk and did a gliding scholorship at Burtonwood ( near liverpool for the young ones ). Currently have 30+ hours in a C152. Would like to become involved as an adult instructer. How do I go about it?

Hi, I assume you want to join a VGS rather than a regular ATC Squadron? If that is the case then I'd suggest giving your local VGS a ring over the weekend, or write to the CO of the VGS to find out if there are any vacancies. You will be able to find your local VGS by checking out the official Air Cadets website www.aircadets.org I think. Whilst new staff are welcomed with open arms, being a member of staff on a VGS is quite different to being a member of a flying club - it involves long hours, commitment and hard work - but is great fun and very rewarding at the same time. Good luck in your search for a VGS, and hope that helps. Rob
